Hola from Uspantan

So today we left the bright lights of Guatamala city for the hills and mountains of Uspantan, the base for our stove building! The journey saw many highs and lows and that wasnt just the mountains, although not as bad as some had expected the roads were still cause for some considerable concern – espcially to Harriet. From smouldering volcanoes to deep green vallies the journey showed the beauty of Guatamala and the smiley happy people that make the country the special place it is. Continue reading

Friday, July 20 – later in the day from the Boston Airport Hilton hotel

Where did it all go wrong?

We landed in Boston. We had two hours to connect to our flight to Miami. Things were going great – but then we lost 2 passengers at immigration. Ramon and Carla were taken for further questioning. Carla was pulled aside because of her Portugese passport (which is hand written) and Ramon because he had a passport issued in the last few days. As a result, Carla, Clair, Carlyn, Ramon, Henry and I ended up missing our connecting flight to Miami. Continue reading

Mission Impossible

Friday – Evesham we hear is getting flood warnings, Morrisons is 5 ft under water and some staff pool cars are also going to be claimed on the insurance! We get let off home early at 3pm. Some people left to go back to Worcester at 12pm – they were still traveling as Pershore and Old Worcester road closed. I heard that they eventually got home at 1am! I got back to my road and found it to be under 1/2 foot of water, going through it I thought was no problem. Little did I know that 1 hour later it would rise another 1ft and claim my neighbours opposite and steadily rising more to the foot of my garden, I was trapped for sure.
